Heimbach employees cycle for a good cause

The aim of the campaign was to encourage the workforce to do something for a good cause, their own health and the environment at the same time. In August and September, employees were encouraged to cycle or walk to work as often as possible instead of travelling by car. Because social responsibility and sustainable action are very important at Heimbach, the management supported the sporting ambition with 30 cents per kilometre. Unfortunately, the weather was not very cycle-friendly at the start of the campaign. Nevertheless, 8,563 kilometres were cycled and the management rounded up the donation to 2,600 euros.

The campaign took place for the third time this summer. While last year's donations went to the Running for Kids organisation and to the victims of floods and war, this year's donation went to animal welfare. Since the pandemic, animal shelters have been overcrowded anyway and animals are abandoned or handed in at the start of the holiday season.

At the cheque presentation, Jürgen Plinz, Chairman of the animal welfare association for the district of Düren and jointly responsible for the operation of the associated shelter, praised the campaign: "Clever ideas have made Heimbach GmbH what it is today, a leader in paper machine clothing and with a big heart for animals."
Plinz thanked the management and staff: "By giving up their cars, the employees have protected the environment, done something for their fitness and achieved great things for the shelter animals. A win-win situation. The donation helps our fosterlings a lot."

We are pleased to make a small contribution to covering the recent sharp rise in food and energy costs.
