Cycling for a good cause

From 16 May to 15 July, we once again held a sporting charity campaign in Düren. The aim was to encourage the staff to do something for their own health, for the environment and at the same time for a good cause.

For two months, employees were asked to cycle or walk to work as often as possible instead of driving. Since sustainable and environmentally conscious behaviour is a high priority at Heimbach, our management was happy to donate 30 cents per kilometre to a charitable organisation.

We are proud to announce that 62 Heimbachers have cycled or run 10,604  kilometres. The resulting donation was rounded up by the management to generous 4,000 Euro. We are very pleased that the participants are spread across the various industrial and commercial divisions. One of our colleagues even rode outstanding 1,101 kilometres.

This time the donation is given to the organisation „Aktion Lichtblicke“. It supports the regional flood victims of July 2021 and also collects donations for refugees from Ukraine.

Our British colleagues from Manchester also rode the bike for a good cause: On Sunday 10th July, 9 employees from Heimbach UK cycled 100km from Manchester to Blackpool - a seaside town on the West coast of the UK. It was to collect money for ‘The Christie Foundation’ supporting The Christie Hospital in Manchester. This hospital is one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe.
